bluefairy That's a brilliant idea for the Yakult bottle! It's really simple too! I think that when we try our best to save the environment, we can come up with the wackiest ideas to do so. We can use unwanted drink cans or plastic bottles as a pen holder. Leftover melted candles can be remelted and made into a new candle. Used paper/newspaper can be folded into little paper boxes to store waste.

As a girl, I couldn't resist how cute these recycled bottles actually looked after decorating them to be like Kokeshi dolls. I am going to try one of these someday!

I am sure if we start using these adorable yakult bottles in the right manner, not only can we create "delicious grape popsicle", we can also decorate them as beautiful ornaments which we can place at home, or give it as a door gift/presents to our friends!

This has made me realize that, being creative is actually very important in this green era. We have to innovate from what waste we have made and transform them to give them a whole new meaning to their existence as a recycled material.

keshias Monte Sant' Angelo Mercy College in North Sydney has banned the sale of bottled water and invested $40,000 to install water stations throughout the school. And this was a project lead by a couple of students. Maybe we should ban it in our school too, but it would take a lot of 'boycotting' from the consumers to discourage the stores from selling bottled water.

sharon9280 Bottled waters can easily be replaced! Why spend money to buy bottled water when you can just bring your own water bottle and refill whenever you needed? Bottled water is a product marked up 3000%. Yes, 3000%! You're giving your precious allowance to the manufacturer and at the same time, increasing wastes!

Plus, plastic bottles cannot be used for long. Eventually it has to be disposed of (or recycled, hopefully).

In many countries, bottled waters are not regulated. Meaning, we wouldn't know what are the ingredients/materials used for the packaging. By comparison, tap water is regulated more stringently.

So why buy bottled water when you can have cleaner water, and save money too!

If more people do this, less plastics will be used to create water bottles and therefore less spaces in landfills will be taken up for this, ultimately helping to save the environment. notsosunnily I have to admit that the Starbucks mugs have always appealed to me, it's just I've never acquired the habit of bringing a bottle around with me. Perhaps, it's time to change that habit. After all, a bit of motivation from caffeine never hurt anyone.

In times to come, students of SP are going to become caffeine junkies. But even so, if they buy tumblers and help save on the paper and plastic cups, they'll be green caffeine junkies.

rhcp09 I know that most of us love Starbucks and purchasing the mugs will go a long way, in the long run to save the environment. Think about how much Styrofoam and plastics we will not be using by simply purchasing mugs for our own use. Not only do they look nice, they also serve a good purpose as well. Perhaps the other drink stalls should consider this idea of customers bringing in their own mugs when buying drinks. A large amount of resources will be saved.

denzelljy More than its anti-oxidant properties, the whole idea of hand-making your very own household cosmetics is a fun one. I find it very interesting to know what's in those soap bars at The Body shop, they smell good and look edible.

zhenggggg I agree. Songs can be a powerful way to inspire people and make them aware of the need to save earth. Some examples I can think of are Michael Jackson's aptly-named Earth Song, a song about the Earth and its destruction; What a Wonderful World, which reminds of us how Earth is special and should be preserved and Weird Al's Fat, about the costs of eating too much (and needing to grow more food for the people eating which increases pollution)

So, we should plug in our earplugs, blast these inspiring songs this Green March.
